ELTC Summer Ladder Round Up

With the cancellation of regular competitive tennis over the summer, Ealing ran singles and doubles ladders for the first time with massive participation. Taking advantage of our excellent grass courts and extended good weather the ladders kicked off in June, running for three months with 151 players entering and 406 matches being played.

Newcomers and a family rivalry between Jago and Luca Bluett took singles box 1 by storm with Jago winning five out of six matches and clinching top place in the ladder. Singles box 2 was a tough competition with Hiro Okado fending off spirited challenges by Sam Oliver and Geunter Bernhard late in the session to retain his top ranking.

Box 3 saw plenty of action with Antonia Abatic claiming the top position over Iain Britton in second. Judith Loffhagen rose consistently throughout the summer to place 16th in box 2 as the highest ranked Lady. Congratulations to all those placing top position in their box.

Daniel Martin had a very busy session managing to play an impressive 19 matches during the summer session while Henrietta Marsh-Smith gathered the highest match win total with 10 victories in the singles ladder.

In the doubles ladder Jago & Luca Bluett boasted an undefeated record despite a difficult challenge from second place Rich Jones & Peter Honey. Again, a huge number of games were played with pairs Judith Loffhagen & Rosie Clifton and Henrietta Marsh-Smith & Delainey Ackerman each managing to play nine matches over the summer session.

Massive congratulation to everyone who played in the session and thank you for making it such a huge success. Huge thank you to Sangeeta Arora, Iain Britain & Henrietta Marsh-Smith for all their hard work organising and running the ladders through tough situations over the summer.

There is not long too wait for the Winter Internal Competitions with the Winter Singles League Restarting soon run by Mike Knibbs and Ricky Boardman taking over a Doubles Ladder to run October through the Winter.
Keep an eye out on your e-mails.
