ELTC communication on Caronavirus - 18/03/2020

Dear ELTC members,

In light of the current Coronavirus situation, and the latest Government advice, we would like to outline the impact for our Members and Club staff.

Firstly, please note the guidance on self-isolation has changed. As well as self-isolating for 7 days if you exhibit a fever or persistent cough (even if mild), you must also self-isolate for 14 days if any household members exhibit symptoms. If during these 14 days you start to exhibit symptoms you must remain in self-isolation for at least a further 7 days.

The LTA have suspended any activity that they deliver (organised tournaments, courses, training sessions, etc) for the foreseeable future. As a result, all of the LTA staged and LTA approved competitions up to 20 April 2020 have been cancelled, with a decision on cancelling future competitions beyond that date, being made on a rolling two-week basis. As it stands, the LTA's major grass court events this summer have not been cancelled. View the full LTA information at the link below:
https://www.lta.org.uk/about-us/tennis-news/news-and-opinion/general-news/2020/march/coronavirus-covid-19---latest-advice/

With the LTA suspension in place, the Government are still recommending that people exercise and our courts remain open for those Members who wish to continue to play.
The Club Bar also remains open and we will continue to review this.

The Club has increased the intensity of its cleaning, including the dome courts, and there are, at present, wipes available in the lobby for Members to use.

Those Members over 70 years old and/or Members of high risk (heart disease, asthma or COPD, diabetes, anyone who is normally recommended to have a flu vaccination or those who are pregnant) are asked to:
· Avoid using the Club's changing facilities.
· Arrive at the Club changed and ready for play.
· Be particularly stringent with social distancing.

Whilst schools remain open, it would seem appropriate for Coaches to continue to offer their services.

The Club will hold it's normal Wednesday social evening tonight from 6pm.

With the above in mind, we ask members to follow the Governments advice on hygiene and social-distancing of one metre of space:
· Wash your hands with soap and water often - do this for at least 20 seconds.
· Always wash your hands when you arrive at the Club.
· Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze.
· Put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards.
· Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell.
· Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean.
· If you have a new persistent cough and/or a high temperature, you must stay at home for at least 7 days.
· If any household member exhibits symptoms then you must self-isolate for 14 days.

With the fast moving pace of this situation, the Club's Management Committee will be meeting over a digital conference call by the end of the week, where we will communicate any further impact on the Club and guidance for Members.

Best, James
ELTC Club Manager
