Important Reminder - On-court conduct and parental behaviour expectations

Dear Parents,

I hope this message finds you well.

We are writing to share some important reminders regarding behaviour at Ealing Lawn Tennis Club, following a recent increase in incidents of inappropriate conduct from some of our junior players during training and matches.

Player Conduct on Court:

It has come to our attention that a number of juniors have engaged in behaviour that does not reflect the values of our club, including:
· Use of inappropriate or offensive language
· Throwing racquets and other equipment in frustration
· General disrespect towards fellow players

Such behaviour is not only unacceptable but also potentially dangerous. We would like to remind all players that tennis is a sport built on respect—for the game, for opponents, for equipment, and for those who support player development.
We also encourage our older juniors to act as role models to our younger players. This means setting a positive example in attitude and sporting behaviour which helps create a healthy and supportive environment for everyone on court. Sporting behaviour means that whilst remaining competitive, players accept rules, decisions, and the outcomes of matches.

Parental Conduct:

We would also like to remind all parents and guardians of our expectations off the court:

· Please model calm, respectful behaviour when watching your children play.
· Avoid coaching or commenting from the sidelines.
· If accompanying your child on court, especially during shared bookings or family sessions, please ensure that the tone remains constructive and supportive.
· Any disputes or concerns should be brought to a coach or committee member, rather than being addressed publicly or in the presence of children.

Ealing LTC is a community club that prides itself on nurturing not just strong tennis players, but respectful, resilient young people. We sincerely appreciate your help in reinforcing these values at home and around the club.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
